Grace Leong is a lecturer at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), teaching in the departments of Theatre and Dance. Her experiences as a post-colonial citizen have led her to create and experiment with her own culture identity, with many of her works revealing her roots as a multi- cultural artist. She lectures and produces cross-disciplinary projects focusing on Southeast Asia (SEA) traditional art forms with media artists and researchers. Her works include “Spirit of Kelantan”, a documentary launched on Okto in 2011; “Ramayana In Its Forms”, “Transcend Sbek Thom”, and “Encounter Hun Lakorn Lek”. Her most recent performance “Allegory of Wayang Kulit” was staged in Caryl Churchill T heatre, UK, 2014, an articulate and thoroughly interrogated exploration of her identity as a Malaysian- Chinese who became habituated to Singapore and living in a post-colonial society of diverse cultural heritage.
