John Clang is a visual artist working in photography. His first exhibition, at 20 yrs old, was a duo-show at the controversial (and now defunct) Singapore art space, 5th Passage Artists. Clang’s fascination on time, displacement and existence influence his work. His photographs examine and raise questions of the world he lives in, providing not pictorial documentation but an intimate mental reflection of one man’s mind.
Clang has participated in many solo & group exhibitions around the world. His works are collected by the Singapore Art Museum and private collectors.
In 2010, he became the first photographer to receive the Designer of the Year award at the President’s Design Award. It is the most prestigious design accolade in Singapore.
His next major solo exhibition will be held at the National Museum of Singapore in January 2013.
