VALERIE GROVE

Valerie Grove is a British artist and writer who has lived, worked and travelled extensively in Asia and the Middle East. Her work is experimental and diverse, exploring a considerable range of themes and interests as well as mediums. Recent installation projects include an assessment of the impact of technology on the human body while recent writing projects include an archive of the Al Ma’mal Foundation in Jerusalem and a documentary blog project on artwork related to the Olympic regeneration of East London.

Her work, Baggage Claim uses multiple suitcases, each containing very different objects, to examine the interaction of transience, identity and knowledge in the contemporary global culture. Originally shown at the Vestry House Museum for the 2009 E17 Art Trail, this installation has been partially reconstructed especially for WITH(OUT).
